moive poster

This is the first version of my InterStellar movie poster. The goal was to make it look like that words were the ship and that it was moving, but some friends review it and i  decided to change it to my second version.
The second version has some notable changes. First its all one word instead of two. All the gradients were taken out and replaced with single colors. The stars were also changed to some of then being in an 'X' shape. The type has also been messed with most notably the 'E' was extended at the bottom and 'R' and the 'S' were connected. Even though it was hard to change I believe the second version turned out better than the first.

text

This is my name in custom text. It's a very curve heavy type like a signature. I started by kerning the letters closer together so they were almost touching. Then I moved 'Seidl' so is butted up against my first name. The 'i' in Seidl a moved so the anchor points cut into the 'E'. This makes is look more curvy even thought i didn't add any curves, and it still readable which of course is important for ant text.

This is my top ten poster it has all my values on it like technology and food. I made the guideline based on a the little tabs for poster. Values are very important for markets as they have to figure out what people like and the more people that like a certain thing the better it will sell. For the type of my poster i went with ver basic type. I think it looked professional and it flows well.

Kerning

Kerning is the space between letters. It used to make sure that letters don't rub up next to each other or that there not to far from each other. It's all about how you like to read your words, and make sure it's easy to read.

postcard

First thing first this is NOT a christmas card. I just happen to look the cold and the snow a lot more then the heat of summer. This is cool postcard that represents me. My idea fir this was to make everything seem cold. I even got some custom fonts to help the feeling.

To make it look nice i use a lot of effect. The one o use the most was a drop shadow effect where to would give the object a shadow. This was especially helpful on the branches to the left of the postcard. If the branches didn't have a drop shadow the nit would be really hard to see.

I feel like my whole postcard turned out great, but if i had to change i would like to put a very large branch going across the right hand corner instead of the snowflake. This is what i planed on doing when i started working on this but apparently a large icy branch with a transparent background doesn't on the internet. However  that is the only complaint i have about this post card.

The postcard to the right of this text is my graphic design story. It has my name with some things i like to do in the letters. I also have my logo and a pencil case that i made a long time ago. My first idea was to have the past be the logo i made in my freshman year, but i couldn't find it. The pencil case was a substation, but it still represents my past. I learned a lot about clipping masks and making the images connect to each other. I don't think i would change this if i did it aging. I might experiment with different background colors, but as if i would change it to a different color i'm not sure. That is why it will probably stay the same. This has made me think bout how things should relate to each other and i will make sure to do it in the future.

This is my shadow project. I chose a piggy bank because i wanted to have something different then a can or a bottle. Using gradients and layer a managed to get the shadow effect. However one of my biggest problems was dealing with the gradient for some reason it just didn't want to fade to black instead it wanted to fade to yellow, but a quick restart fixed that. I wanted to create a background, but any background i tried made it look really wried like it was out of place or it looked to small or to big.

Floating Mountains

The Rloating Rocks

I wanted to pull a mountain from another photo into this photo to make it look like the mountain was floating. The first thing i had to do was select the mountain then jump it put to a new layer. Then of course i had to do the all important step of getting rid of pixel fringe. http://www.underwaterphotography.com/PhotoShop/PhotoShop/help.html
I learned a look about color manipulation to give the mountain it's tent. There was one thing that was really hard, and that was the plane. It's perspective and it's odd shape made it hard to place and look right. However in the end i managed to get it to look good along with the hang glider. This will help me in the nurture because now a now about masks and how to fit things in a photo.

These are my creative sphere the on on top is from illustrator while the bottom one is the photo shop one.

Some things that were different was that the illustrator sphere was a lot harder to do because it had me make it in 3D in photoshop is had me change light to make it look 3D. There e was also the easier coloring on photoshop. Illustrator did however have a lot more options more me to mess with and make the sphere more detailed.

The illustrator sphere is actually interesting because it's not done. The tutorial had me make a cast net and delate it so only the dots would be left, but i made a mistake and only deleted the bottom half, but after seeing t i thought it looked a lot then what it would have been so i kept it.

The photoshop on is exactly how it's supposed to be and i think it came out pretty good.

This are the three sphere i created. The one on the left is my sketch which has a lot to desired. I tree making lines closer to make it darker, but it didn't work out so well. The one in the middle is my photoshop sphere. This one has my name on it, but the shadow looks a little wired. The one on the right is my best on in illustrator . It the one with a background and a goo looking shadow.

These are the two logos that i will be talking about in detail. These logo are each a letter of my name merged together. The top one being two "A" and the bottom one being "S".The one on the top has red in it which represent my wiliness to do something different. The blue represent the peace of mind i normally have. They meet in the middle to form purple. This represents the luxury of my life. The "A's" also appear to be triangles that are pointing both ways. This represent my wiliness to go any which way. The bottom on is a circle which it stable, and the way the "S's" look it looks like it will go on forever.

I learned about letter about font and which one would look best for the logos. I positioned the letters in the logo really will so well that it's hard to even tell they were letters to begging with. If i could do the bottom logo over i would get rid of the small color cycles and just make the "S's" different colors. I need to work on the bottom logo so more even though i like it it just seems like somethings missing.

This is my art board. You can see the progression of my logos. I tried to put my name in these logos, so top right logos are to "A" for my first name Alan and top left is logos to "S" Which is for my last name Seidl. The ones on the bottom right are my favorite.

I learned from this tutorial how to do 3D text an to change the perspective. I also learned how to do a text layer on top of a text layer. I feel like i did a great job of getting it to look like it was made out of pixels. I wish I had more time to mess around with the predictive. I just didn't want to screw anything up. I did to figure out the shadows more because right now i don't have a light source.

The font the google logo uses is the Catull font which gives the google logo the 3D effect. For a while google used a colorless logo, but in 1998 they put the three pirmary colors, but also one seondary color (green). This pattern or lack there of gives the feeling you can keep exploring and keep finding new things. This give the viewer the idea of finding new things.

The font that I got was the new alphabet. This is a font that has no curves and it is illegible. In case you don't know what this says its my name Alan Seidl. I did the anatomy like everyone else, but i wanted to make my unique. In order to do that i spilt the color of the letters in half and made it look nice.

This is my creative objects piece. Originally it was only going to be the tent and the campfire, but that  i had so much time i decided to make the landscape too. The best thing i did in this was was the light on the ground from the fire it looks cool. The smoke was also something that was added at the the, but it looks really good. This was probably the best thing i've done so far.

This is my pencil there are many pencils like it,but this one is mine. I tired to make my pencils different from everyone else's pencils. So i made of box of pencils so it wouldn't just be another pencil laying next to a can. There was plenty of problems like the fact some parts wouldn't seperate like i wanted them to. This cause me to think of something different, so i put shapes over the box and moved everything to the front. However even after all the problems i had fun.

I think graphic design is the venison of the creator, to show thier work to inspire (or any other emation they're try in to show) any person who is looking at it. The creator has to make sure to observer can understand the message. The creator can't new the only one to understand there work.
